A pet‘ nat’ produced by a traditional estate with a prestigious reputation since the beginning of the 19th century. A wine for sharing at its prime in its early years.
More infoEstablished in the early 19th century by Baron du Mesnil, the Marquis d’Angerville estate is renowned for being the first to bottle its wine on the estate. No effort is spared to tend the vines. Given their age, they draw the nutrients they require deep inside the cultivated soils – through ploughing and the promotion of biodiversity – and capture the very essence of the terroir. Yields are therefore naturally limited.
In addition to the ‘classic’ wines from recognised appellations, the estate steps out of its comfort zone somewhat with this sparkling Vin de France called Petit Blanc, Pet' nat’ (naturally sparkling – abbreviated from 'pétillant naturel', a natural sparkling wine made with as little intervention as possible). Naturally, this wine celebrates the region’s noble grape variety, Chardonnay. A wine designed for sharing, it was designed to be enjoyed young, in the first year or two following its vintage. It is particularly fresh, with creamy bubbles and notes of white fruit such as pear and apple. A striking minerality enlivens the whole. Enjoy it with fish, citrus poultry or goat’s cheese.

About the Producer Marquis d'Angerville
Domaine Marquis d'Angerville is a family enterprise created in 1804 by the Baron du Mesnil who acquired the Clos des Ducs, a property situated at Volnay, as well as surrounding parcels (Taillepieds, Caillerets and Champans). After the phylloxera crisis, the Baron du Mesnil's great grandson, the Marquis of Angerville, took over the vineyards and restored it by planting Pinot Noir. He was the first to bottle his own wine and sell it directly at the domain. His son Jacques took over the domain in 1952, and thanks to him the domain was rated among the best. When he died in 2003, he left immaculately-kept vineyards, exemplary wines, and a real philosophy for the great wines of Burgundy. His son Guillaume took over the business with the help of his brother-in-law, Renaud de Villette, an agronomics engineer who had worked with Jacques de Villette for over 15 years. Today, the vineyards cover over 14 hectares, the majority of which is in Volnay and Meursault. Thanks to an excellent grape variety and old vines, the yields are naturally reduced, the soil is worked, and microbial life and soil nutrient balance is maintained. All the wine produced is bottled at the domain.
