Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence Rosé Prestige Château Petit Sonnailler 2020

The delightful Château Petit Sonnailler stands in the heart of the Aix-en-Provence vineyard, overlooking the steep Luberon mountain range and the Alpilles mountains. Here, the vines spread across close to 45 hectares and draw the nutrients they require to thrive from soils consisting of chalky scree at altitudes of between 250 and 300 metres. Everything here is performed with the greatest respect for the environment. All these factors contribute to preserving a certain freshness, which translates into the wines, in this southern terroir.
This Cuvée Prestige rosé is a blend of black and white Grenache, Syrah, Vermentino and Carignan. Each grape variety contributes its own richness. The Grenaches provide fragrance and a rounded texture, while the Syrah and Vermentino contribute fruit, and the Carignan lifts the wine with great freshness. To produce this cuvée, the Château first macerated the grapes and then proceeded with a ‘saignée’ which involves ‘bleeding’ off liquid from a tank of juice for red wine in the early stages of the winemaking process. The wine is best enjoyed young, to appreciate the fruity, fresh flavours and, of course, along with Provençal dishes!
