Supple, elegant tannins reflect the aromatic wealth and complexity of the Côt grape variety.

More info

The Côt grape variety, which is also known as Malbec in the South-West of France and South America, thrives in the Touraine region. Reputed for their robustness and rusticity, the Côtes vines, averaging 115 years in age, grow on soils consisting of red clay, flint and limestone. The ideal south-east exposure, combined with organic and biodynamic viticulture methods, allow each vine to draw all the essential nutrients they require to thrive from the soil. The hand-picked grapes are first meticulously sorted in the vineyard and a second time in the winery. The destalked fruit then undergoes maceration in concrete vats before the wines are matured for 30 months in amphorae.
The dark colour is complemented by an expressive bouquet, revealing an array of fruity aromas combined with hints of spice. On the palate, fine tannins blend harmoniously with fruity aromas, culminating in a long, flavoursome finish.

About the Producer La Grange Tiphaine

Domaine Grange Tiphaine is a 15-hectare family domain split between Montlouis-sur-Loire, Touraine and Touraine-Ambroise. The story of the domain goes back to the 19th century, when the Delecheneau family grew a variety of crops on the land. The domain was handed down from generation to generation, until Coralie and Damien Delecheneau’s arrival in 2002. They had met in Bordeaux. Damien manages the vine and the cellar, while Coralie takes care of admin and sales. The domain obtained organic certification in 2007 and biodynamic in 2014. The domain owns excellent vineyards of old vines, of which some are 100 years old. The work in the cellar is precise, and élevages are carried out in concrete vats and old casks. Wines from La Grange Tiphaine have beautiful purity and elegance. A rising star of the Loire.
