A terroir wine produced in small quantities of Gamay grapes by an estate that regularly brings us real favourites.
More infoTerra Vita Vinum, a vineyard in the Loire Valley dear to our hearts and a regular source of tasty surprises, presents its Vin de France made from Gamay grapes. Certified organic and biodynamic viticulture has encouraged the vines to draw the very essence of the soils, consisting of grey, rusty, green and purplish shale interspersed with quartz veins. The grapes are hand-picked and placed in small crates to preserve their natural qualities, before undergoing an equally meticulous vinification process. The whole bunches undergo a pre-fermentation maceration process, which starts out at a low temperature to preserve the freshness of the fruit. Native yeasts trigger fermentation and the wine then matures in a variety of containers, including amphorae, barrels and concrete eggs. The wine is bottled without fining or filtration.
This wine oozes terroir qualities with a subtle blend of fruit and sweet spices, in a silky register driven by a lovely minerality. The estate recommends cellaring it for a long time before pairing it with charcuterie (pig’s trotter, black pudding, etc.) or full-fat cheeses.

About the Producer Terra Vita Vinum
This is the brainchild of Luc, immersed in the world of wine since childhood, and Bénédicte, a former wine merchant. Terra Vita Vinum entered a new chapter when the couple took over the estate in 2019. They completely reimagined every aspect of viticulture and winemaking to craft wines that are as natural and authentic as possible.
New methods were introduced as soon as they arrived: harvesting grapes in 8 kg crates; transitioning to biodynamic viticulture (Demeter certification in 2020); gaining a better understanding of the vines, their environment and biodiversity; bringing cows into the rows; cultivating each plot separately; and using different vessels (wooden barrels, amphorae, concrete eggs) for ageing… This 34-hectare estate full of promise is primarily focused on gaining a better understanding of the Chenin and Cabernet Franc varieties at the heart of its parcels.
Definitely a gem you won’t want to miss!
