The perfect blend of the Niellucciu and Grenache produces a fresh, flavoursome rosé that perfectly reflects its terroir.

More info

An iconic Corsican grape variety, Niellucciu, whose name means black, is renowned for its vigour and resistance to drought. Perfectly at home in stony, low-fertility terroirs, Niellucciu vines thrive on clay-limestone soils on a schist bedrock. Known as the Corsican grape variety with the highest tannin content, Niellucciu is also renowned for producing wines with excellent ageing potential. The blend of Niellucciu and Grenache, a robust grape variety perfectly suited to very hot climates, results in a highly aromatic wine produced in accordance with sound organic viticultural practices. After handpicking, the grapes undergo whole bunch pressing in the cellar. Following a 24-hour cold settling period, alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel vats last 15 to 20 days. Before bottling, the wine is aged in stainless steel vats for six months.
The pale pink, slightly shiny colour heralds a nose marked by floral fragrances. On the palate, the wine is fresh and delicious, with subtle spicy aromas.

About the Producer E. Croce

Yves Leccia continued at his family property in the early 1980s, after completing his studies in oenology. However, in 2004, he set up his own property with his partner Sandrine: E Croce. It now consists of 15 hectares in Patrimonio, some of the vines are from his father and the rest are rented. The plots, in particular E Croce and Partinelone, are located on clay-limestone and schist terroirs, south-west facing, at the base of the mountains that extend into Cap Corse. The maritime influence of Saint Florent Bay brings maturity and freshness.
The vineyard is planted with four main varieties: Vermentino, Nielluccio and Grenache for the reds, and Ugni Blanc for the Vin de Pays white wines. The property naturally produces Patrimonio, in all three colours, and also Ile de Beauté Vin de Pays (red and white), a red Vin Doux Naturel and some Cap Corse Muscat. The property does not have any certification, but the soil is ploughed and only organic fertilizers are used.
