Remarkably fresh, the Gravner House achieves wonders with this perfectly balanced cuvée.

More info

Ribolla Gialla is widely planted across north-east Italy, producing finely acidic, deliciously fruity wines. The marl and sandstone soils provide the vines with all the nutrients they require to thrive. The Ribolla Gialla grapes are entirely destemmed after being hand-picked and macerate for around five months in Georgian amphorae, adding depth and complexity to the wine. Regular punching down of the cap ensures maximum oxygenation of the yeasts during spontaneous fermentation. Lastly, the cuvée is transferred to old Slavonian foudres (large capacity wooden tuns) to age for four years, before being bottled without fining or filtration.
The slightly golden straw colour is complemented by an intense nose, characterised by floral and fruity notes mingling with a subtle minerality. On the palate, a superb balance of sweetness and freshness emerges, leading to a deliciously long, expressive finish.

About the Producer Gravner

The domaine, which is internationally renowned for its Chardonnays and Sauvignons, is at the cutting edge of modern oenology and technology, but has nevertheless established a reputation for revisiting age-old practices such as wooden containers, terracotta amphorae and indigenous grape varieties including Ribolla Gialla. To cite Josko Gravner “modern oenology has helped me to understand that previous generations were right.”
