Languedoc Clos Marie Les Trois Saisons Christophe Peyrus et Françoise Julien 2016
The wine
Les Trois Saisons is the fruit of solidarity between the domain and its neighbours. This one could, if we dare say, replace the “Olivette” cuvée which has a similar blend of varietals but couldn’t be produced in 2016 because of the weather conditions. This wine is made up of Grenache (40%), Syrah (30%), Carignan (20%) and Mourvèdre (10%) cultivated sustainably on the terroirs of Montpeyroux, L’Escalette, Les Brousses and Saint-Privat. The grapes are harvested by hand and the wine matured in demi-muids and oak casks. The nose of this generous wine is carried by red fruits, herbs, spices, pepper, and a hint of liquorice. On the palate, minerality comes together with a silkiness that makes for a lovely length. It can be enjoyed today, though it will benefit from a few years in the cellar, and will pair nicely with dishes such as slow-roasted meat.
About the Producer Clos Marie
Le Clos Marie is without doubt the Pic Saint-Loup's most beautiful domain, and among the most sought-after by switched-on connoisseurs. From their twenty or so hectares of vines, Christophe Peyrus and his wife Françoise Julien have achieved miracles since 1995. Their vines are biodynamically cultivated, with long, careful élevages. Each of their cuvées is very expressive, reflecting the full diversity of its terroir with its own highly individual style. The star of this already remarkable domain continues to rise. Definitely one to watch! Read more
