Cragganmore 15 years 1973 Gordon & MacPhail Old Map Label Connoisseurs Choice

The wine

A single malt distilled in 1973 at the Cragganmore distillery in Speyside by the blending company D&J McCallum Ltd, bottled by the Elgin bottler Gordon & MacPhail between 1989 and 1991 and imported to Italy by Fiori Ferdinando. The Connoisseurs Choice range was introduced in the early 1970s for the Italian Edoardo Giaccone. It was then widely used by Gordon & MacPhail from 1978-1979 on. Over the decades it underwent several changes. This version, known to collectors as the “Map Label”, was used from 1989 to 1997.Bottle equipped with a gold screw cap and Italian tax strip. Note that this may be broken due to the need to regularly tighten the cap, which comes loose with time, allowing the spirit to evaporate.

About the Producer Cragganmore

Scotland, Speyside. Distillery operational. Owner: Diageo

In addition to appearing together in the Six Classics Malts range, Cragganmore and Lagavulin became closely linked in 1923 when Sir Peter Mackie bought Cragganmore Distillery and incorporated it into the company Mackie & Co. - White Horse Distillers. Cragganmore become a key malt in the company's blends White Horse and Old Parr, before it was bought in 1927 by DCL (Distillers Company Limited). Loved by enthusiasts and connoisseurs, Cragganmore remains a niche single malt. Its 12 Year Old version, with a cream label, has been its standard bearer for over 20 years. Only one previous 12 year old version released by D&J McCallum Limited, Edinburgh is today a true collectors item.
