Mendoza Single Vineyard Las Compuertas Malbec Terrazas de los Andes 2013
The wine
Made with the greatest of care, this Malbec was matured in barrels for between 18 and 24 months before undergoing further élevage in the bottle for 12-18 months. Its intense, ruby hue makes way for notes of red and black fruits, as well as incense. It is robust and its voluminous tannins are enveloped by intense notes of violet, cacao and coffee. Made to be aged for around 15 years, this wine will go perfectly with the famous red meats of Argentina.
About the Producer Terrazas de los Andes
The Terrazas de los Andes domain came into being in 1999 in the heart of Mendoza, one of the most highly-reputed winemaking regions in Argentina. As its name suggests, the vineyard is located among the ‘terrazas’, terraces at the foot of the Andes mountains – the highest of the vineyards are at 1800m, and the lowest still reach 980m. On this unique terroir, the domain grows both local and international grape varieties such as Malbec, Torrontés, Chardonnay and Cabernet-Sauvignon. The four wines produced here are sought-after for the richness of their aromas, their balance and their power.
