The wine
Viré-Clessé Vieilles Vignes is made from vines over 55 years old. On the nose, it presents aromas of white flowers, citrus fruit and peaches and is lush and fresh on the palate. This is a wine that can be enjoyed both before a meal or with a starter.
About the Producer Sainte-Barbe
Domaine Sainte Barbe, located in Viré, was created in 1967 by Josette and Jean-Noël Chaland, when the vineyard came out of the cooperative system. The vineyard extends over 9 hectares; it has been worked naturally (ploughed, no herbicides ...) for many years and certified for organic farming since 2003. Just under a hectare of old vines of Gamay in Mâcon-Burgy appellation is added to the majority of Chardonnay. Over half the vines are over 50 years old. The wines of this domaine show great finesse and are particularly fruity, with a very good quality / price ratio.
