The wine

A Girvan small batch (#110634-110635) distilled in 1989 and bottled in 2006 by Berry Bros & Rudd. Berry Bros & Rudd was founded in 1698, making it the oldest independent bottler in Great Britain. It has supplied wines and spirits to the British Royal Family since King George III, and today has two Royal Warrants. Berry Bros & Rudd is still a family-run company, managed by the descendants of the Berry and Rudd families.

About the Producer Ladyburn (Girvan)

Known also under the name Ayrshire for its independent bottlings, Ladyburn is one of the various “distilleries” which was set up within a grain spirit production unit in the 1960s (1966 in this case) before being quickly closed (1975) due to the difficult economic climate. From a technical standpoint, Ladyburn was therefore a Lowland single malt produced using double distillation (two pairs of pot stills set up in Girvan), whose production was fated to supply the Grant's blend of the family-owned group William Grant & Sons in order to provide relief to the Glenfiddich and Balvenie distilleries. A few vintage single cask expressions exist, including the 1973 and 1974.
