Mosstowie 29 years 1979 Signatory Vintage Cask n°12763 - One of 141 - bottled 2009 Cask Strength Collection
The wine
A 29 year old single cask Mosstowie (hogshead #12763) distilled in 1979 and bottled in 2009 by Signatory Vintage. Signatory Vintage was founded in 1988 by Andrew Symington, who previously worked at Prestonfield House, Edinburgh, where he would select casks specially for the hotel. In 2002, he bought the Edradour distillery in Pitlochry, in the Highlands of Scotland and moved Signatory Vintage to the site, including the warehouses opposite the distillery. A limited edition of 141 bottles.
About the Producer Mosstowie
A distillery within a distillery, Mosstowie was produced in Miltonduff’‘s Lomond still from 1964 to 1981. The Lomond stills were originally installed to enable the then owner Hiram Walker to produce a wider variety of whisky for blends like Ballantine’‘s. The project was never much of a success and was abandoned 17 years later. No official bottlings of the Mosstowie single malt were ever released and only a handful of independent bottlers were lucky enough to bottle these highly prized (and very rare) bottlings.
