About the Producer Château Vieux Fortin

Château Vieux Fortin is one of the most iconic vineyards in Bordeaux. Tucked away to the north-west of Saint-Emilion, the vineyard stretches across some of the region’s finest appellations. Today, Jean-Luc Thunevin runs the estate with a master’s hand. With passion, he creates confidential cuvées that enthusiasts clamour to acquire. The five hectares of vines, which include the region’s flagship grape varieties such as Merlot, grow on clay-limestone soils. Well aware of the current environmental concerns and with a view to protecting biodiversity, he cultivates his vines with the utmost respect for the land. Each parcel receives specific care depending on its needs, to allow the personality of each one to shine through. In the winery, the philosophy is the same. Vinification involves minimal intervention and sulphur is added in minute quantities. In this peaceful atmosphere, the estate unveils authentic, delicious and flavoursome wines that reflect the full spectrum of aromas of the Bordeaux grape varieties.
