Jasnières Les Rosiers Domaine de Bellivière 50 cl 2001
The wine
This cuvée is made with Chenin grapes grown on a terroir of clay and flint and harvested by hand, in several passes. It is vinified naturally, in second, third, or fourth fill barriques and matured for one year. The wine is pale gold in colour and has a nose of peach and cherry plum notes. A pleasing mineral quality balances the few residual sugars to perfection.
About the Producer Domaine de Bellivière
Domaine de Bellivière was founded by éric and Christine Nicolas in 1995, with 5.5 hectares of vines in Coteaux-du-Loir. They gradually expanded their vineyard, buying parcels in the Jasnières appellation until their holdings amounted to a dozen hectares. In 2015, their son Clément has joined them in the vineyard. A wonderful address and a must for anyone looking to rediscover the forgotten terroirs of Sarthe.
