Chardonnay de Montgueux Blanc de Blancs Extra-Brut Vincent Couche
The wine
Vincent Couche has produced a vintage using only Chardonnay grapes grown in Montgueux. After vinifying them in vats and barrels, he leaves them to age for nine years in the cellar. The result is astonishing: very fine bubbles, which make the champagne less sparkling. It is very vinous, exuding roasted, floral aromas. This champagne's chalky terroir enables it to express a beautiful minerality and tautness in the mouth.
About the Producer Vincent Couche
Vincent Couche cultivates 13 hectares of vineyards in the Côte des Bars, following biodynamic techniques. The property converted officially in 2008 and this wine grower, in his quest for maturity and the full expression of his terroirs, produces unusual and intriguing wines. There is quite a variation in the terroir. His Chardonnay is planted on 3 hectares of chalky soil with a fully south-facing aspect in Montugueux. In Buxeuil, 10 hectares of Pinot Noir grow on clay, marl and calcareous soil. Vincent Couche tantalises the taste buds with mouthwatering, sulphite-free cuvées with beautiful fruity notes, remarkable maturity and an astonishingly fresh quality!
