Vin de France Bois Moisi Alexandre Plassat 2019

The wine

If you’re passionate about natural wines, we suggest you head for the Jura, a region renowned for the production of this type of wine by well known and up-and-coming names such as Alexandre Plassat. The winemaker heading this estate initially worked with Jean-François Ganevat before embarking on his own venture and creating terroir-based, authentic wines like this Vin de France Bois Moisi. This wine is produced from Chardonnay, a white grape variety that is widely grown in the region and is carefully cultivated according to environmentally friendly and biodiversity-friendly principles. In the winery, this elegant grape variety undergoes a natural vinification process that allows native yeasts to trigger fermentation and avoids the use of sulphur.
A wine of great elegance, with a pale yellow colour and green reflections. White floral notes combine with white and citrus fruit aromas to produce a wine of great finesse on the palate, driven by a fine minerality.

About the Producer Alexandre Plassat

Domaine Alexandre Plassat has become one of the jewels of the Jura wine landscape. After honing his skills alongside the iconic Jean-François Ganevat?, a key figure in the natural wine revival of the region, Alexandre decided to strike out on his own, cultivating just over one hectare. From the outset, he asserted a singular vision of winemaking: an artisanal approach that respects nature, with the guiding principle of allowing the grape to express its origin freely.
A lover of all things living, Alexandre Plassat primarily grows Chardonnay, paying meticulous attention to soil health and surrounding biodiversity. Each vine is tended with careful manual work, far removed from standardised practices. The aim is clear: to preserve the vine’s natural balance and encourage the purest expression possible, without constraint or excess.
This philosophy extends into the winery. Vinifications are natural, without inputs, fining, filtration, or added sulphur. Alexandre simply supports his wines, giving them the time they need to develop, stabilise, and reveal the complexity of their aromas. His cuvées are lively and vibrant, characterised by a lovely freshness and aromatic profiles that range from fruity and floral to subtly oxidative, depending on the vintage.
Production remains extremely rare and sought-after, which only heightens the curiosity of lovers of clean, non-standardised wines. Each bottle from Alexandre Plassat is a true love letter to the Jura, its grape varieties, its terroir, and a sincere, free-spirited viticulture. The growing success of his cuvées places him firmly among the winemakers to watch in the coming years.
