Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes Perrot-Minot 2009

The wine

Created by the monks of the Abbey of Cîteaux around 1098, Clos de Vougeot is reputed to be one of Burgundy’s finest appellations in the Burgundy winegrowing landscape. Over the years, the vineyard has gone from strength to strength, producing unique red wines made exclusively from Pinot Noir grapes. The vines, rising between 230 and 260 metres, thrive on complex marly soils. The hand-picked grapes are gently and methodically vinified, with as little intervention as possible.
The dark shiny colour reveals an enchanting bouquet of red and black fruit harmoniously combined with hints of liquorice and mint. The clean attack brings silky tannins, leading to a lingering, elegant, slightly minty finish. This cuvée promises excellent ageing potential.

About the Producer Domaine Perrot-Minot

The domaine’s history began in the 19th century with the generation of Amédée Merme who attempted to expand the family property. In 1902, Armand Merme took over and made many innovations in the field of vinification. The name Perrot-Minot was associated to the domaine in 1963, when one of Armand Merme’s four daughters married Henri Perrot-Minot. They took over the reins when Armand Merme passed away. Since 1993, their son Christophe Perrot-Minot (a wine broker for seven years) has run the domaine and still does today. His goal is to optimise the work and quality of the wines, thus carrying on the family tradition. The domaine has 13 hectares of vines distributed throughout the Côte de Nuits in villages, premier crus and grand crus which it completes by purchasing some grapes in Chambertin and Chambertin Clos de Bèze. These fine wines express the identity of each of these different terroirs. A magnificent name of the Côte de Nuits.
