The wine
Montlouis-sur-Loire sparkling wines are produced from Chenin Blanc grapes. These wines draw their character from the clay-limestone and sandy soils of the Montlouis terroir. The first fermentation is conducted in stainless steel vats, with carefully controlled temperatures to preserve the freshness and fruity aromas of the grape variety. The second fermentation, which occurs in the bottle following the traditional method, lasts several months, to allow the juice to develop its fine bubbles.
The maturation on lees period of at least 12 months imparts a remarkable aromatic complexity to the wine, revealing notes of white fruit, pear, apricot, quince, citrus fruit, white flowers, honey, cinnamon and a subtle hint of brioche. On the palate, the wine is lively and fresh, displaying a fine acidity and an elegant long finish. A sparkling Montlouis-sur-Loire is perfect as an aperitif, or to complement seafood dishes, white meats and fruit desserts.
