Côte-Rôtie Côte Brune Fontgent Dervieux Thaize Cuvée Réservée 1982
The wine
This 100% Syrah is a true gem of the Rhône terroir, deeply rooted in the history and richness of the granite and schist soils of this prestigious appellation. The vines, cultivated on steep slopes, benefit from optimal sunlight, promoting a slow and even ripening of the grapes. The Côte Brune, with its clay- and iron-rich soils, imparts both depth and tannic structure to the wine, while also contributing complex aromas of dark fruit and spices. The winemaking process is meticulous, combining both traditional and modern techniques. The Syrah grapes are hand-harvested and vinified in concrete vats. The wine then undergoes careful ageing in oak barrels, refining the tannins and enriching the aromatic bouquet.
the wine reveals richness and power, with notes of blackberry, black pepper, and violet, complemented by a beautiful minerality. The finish is long and elegant, promising exceptional ageing potential.
About the Producer Dervieux Thaize
Nowadays wine enthusiasts can rarely boast of opening a bottle from Domaine Dervieux-Thaize. After retiring, the producer shared his vines and handed a portion down to his son-in-law René Rostaing, whose wines are now among the best in the appellation.
