20ème édition Krug
The wine
A new edition of Krug rosé is released each year. This twentieth edition is centred around the 2007 harvest, an atypical year marked by early harvest, and is a blend of 66 wines from five different vintages. Pinot Noir is the main grape variety with Chardonnay making up a third of the blend and Pinot Meunier another 16%. Ten percent of the still red wine from a plot of Pinot Noir in Aÿ is included in the wine, bringing with it colour, structure and liveliness. The wine is matured for at least seven years on its lees in the domain’s cellars where it is regularly tasted to determine the precise moment it is ready to be enjoyed. Sensual and daring, this pale rose Krug rosé is teeming with fine bubbles that release blackberry, redcurrant, peony and grapefruit aromas as they reach the surface. Beautifully creamy, flavours of honey, toasted almonds, and citrus fruits are released from the bubbles as they reach the palate. These delicious flavours stretch into the long, never-ending finish. A wine perfectly suited to be shared with others as you enjoy a slow-cooked leg of lamb or chicken with morel mushrooms.
About the Producer Krug
When Johann-Joseph Krug founded Maison Krug in 1843, he dreamed of attaching his name to a unique champagne. He set one simple rule – never cut corners. Today, six generations later, he would be proud of the stubborn perfectionism that still rules the creation and development of his champagne. Krug is one of the few champagne houses to only produce prestige cuvées. The worldwide reputation of this outstanding champagne is based on a rare expertise that combines patience with excellence. The rigorous selection process begins with choosing the three varieties that will go into the complex blends created at Krug. Krug is also the only top brand to fully ferment it champagnes in small oak barrels. It is this delicate process that creates champagnes with intense aromas and rich and complex tastes. Finally, as a model case in Champagne, Krug ages its wines for a minimum of 6 to 8 years. The reward for this is exceptional maturity and longevity. Krug champagnes are one-of-a-kind, standing out above all others and at the peak of what champagne can be.
