Lot presentation

Corton Grand Cru Renardes Robert Gibourg 2004

The wine

An emblematic grape variety of the Burgundy wine-making region, the Pinot Noir’s special feature is to brilliantly express all the features of its terroir. These vines, growing on particularly well-drained, limestone and pebble soils, enjoy the benefits of healthy and traditional viticulture, allowing them to draw all the necessary nutrients from the earth. The Pinot Noir vines, situated between the emblematic Côtes de Beaune and Côtes de Nuits, are harvested entirely by hand in order to protect the grapes. In the cellar, the grapes go through low-intervention fermentation. The special feature of the cuvée is being aged in 20% new barrels for around 14 to 18 months before being bottled.
This Grand Cru reveals an elegant ruby-red colour with bright glints. The expressive nose unveils delicious aromas of red fruits. On the palate, the fine tannins are perfectly balanced with an incredible acidity, leading to a long and fruity finish.

About the Producer Robert Gibourg

Domaine Gibourg, established in 1965, covers four of Burgundy’s key appellations. Since 1999, Sébastien Bidault has been in charge of the nearly six hectares of vines in Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune, Gevrey-Chambertin and Chorey-lès-Beaune. The vines grow on climates that differ greatly in altitude, orientation, soil composition and grape varieties. This array of plots produces a wide variety of wines, each reflecting its own unique terroir. In the vineyards, the estate applies the principles of sustainable viticulture. These balanced and sustainable viticulture methods, by reducing the use of chemicals as much as possible, help to preserve the character of the terroir and the quality of the soil. In the winery, the same attention is paid to each stage of the winemaking process, which is completed with as little intervention as possible, to produce typically Burgundian cuvées that are authentic and flavoursome.
