Lot presentation

Meursault 1er Cru Bouches Chères Buisson-Charles (Domaine) 2010

The wine

Although not widely recognised, the premier cru Bouchères de Meursault is found not far from Gouttes d’Or. The Chardonnay grown here enjoys good exposure on a slope of well-drained soil rich in clay and chalk. The vines are around 50 years old, and their yields are limited to around 30-50 hectolitres per hectare. The grapes are harvested by hand and thoroughly sorted.
In the winery, the fruit is pressed pneumatically, and the wine is matured in oak casks of 25-30% new wood. Finally, it is bottled without fining.
If you’ve never tried this premier cru, this cuvée is a good place to start, and the light character of the wine isn’t unlike that of the premier cru Genevrières. Delicate, elegant, and refined, this cuvée has good ageing potential and deserves to be paired with gastronomic dishes.

About the Producer Buisson-Charles

Managed by Catherine Buisson and her husband Patrick Essa, Domaine Buisson-Charles encompasses around 8 hectares of vines planted mainly in the surroundings of the Meursault appellation. As of 2020, the domain is in the process of organic transition, though particular care has always been given to the vines and no weed killers have ever been used in the vineyard. Particularly concentrated due to the age of the vines (30 to 90 years), the wines from this domain are made to be aged. In 2011, the domain developed their own merchant activity with prestigious crus in Chablis, Puligny-Montrachet and Corton-Charlemagne. In these wines we find the same level of work as in those made from property grapes. There are also new innovations and methods tried out each year, hence the vinifications in whole harvests for the reds, a process that brings a crisp quality and bright personality.
