When three men combine their talents to showcase the Chinon terroir, the outcome is remarkably precise. Domaine des Bernard is a dynamic estate that champions Chenin and Cabernet Franc under certified organic farming.

Domaine des Bernard is the brainchild of three men: Bernard Pelé (operations manager and winemaker), Nicolas Reau (winemaker at Clos des Treilles and consultant) and Bernard Gault (owner). It was the latter who, in 2022, settled in the village of Cravant-les-Côteaux in the Chinon appellation.
The three men opted for certified organic viticulture from the outset, with their very first vintage in 2022. They strive to produce deep, elegant wines that reflect their personalities. Here, winemaking is conducted without inputs, in the most natural way possible. The Chenin and Cabernet Franc grapes thrive on the ideally east-facing slopes alongside the River Vienne. The soil here consists of sand and silt.
New investments continue to be made with each passing vintage. In 2024, the Bernard estate acquired a plot in La Croix Boissée, one of the most beautiful terroirs in Chinon. Their Les Trois Piliers and La Côte wines have already been singled out for praise by La Revue du Vin de France and Bettane & Desseauve.
