Wine for sale: Georges Lelektsoglou
Georges Lelektsoglou
Georges Lelektsoglou, a Greek native, is firmly established as one of the Rhône Valley’s leading winemakers of the future. Having worked as a Champagne wine broker for several years, he decided to produce his own cuvées in 1983 to celebrate the birth of his eldest son. His wife’s family, members of a cooperative and owners of a historic vineyard in Larnage, lent Georges all the equipment he needed. The result was a fabulous Crozes-Hermitage that was an immediate success. Passionate and enthusiastic, the couple set up their first cellar in 1988. Today, they continue to select cuvées from vines carefully cultivated by winemaking friends. A few years on, Georges came across a small parcel of 100-year-old vines in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. When he’s not in his winery, Georges is in his treasure trove of vines, which he tends with the utmost care.
