Wine for sale: Grégoire Hoppenot

Grégoire Hoppenot
This passionate winemaker elevates the terroirs of Morgon and Fleurie, and in particular the vineyard he owns in its entirety, the Clos de l’Amandier. An estate well worth discovering, both for the delicacy of its wines and the humility of its winemaker, a man deeply committed to the recognition of his region.
The estate produces certified organic wines, a deliberate choice out of respect for the land but also one that pushes him to reflect deeply on his craft. Some of the vines are very old, rooted in poor soils of granitic sand. In the winery, he lets the terroir reveal all its potential, favouring gentle vinification started by natural yeasts and without adding sulphites. The wines are matured in different containers: concrete vats, large wooden barrels, and barrels that have already housed several wines.
Despite the extremely positive feedback from critics and clients, Grégoire Hoppenot remains profoundly humble, offering wines of outstanding quality, with a fine, airy texture, presented in bottles with delicate, original labels. Each wine faithfully reflects its vintage and what nature created at a given moment.
This rising star of Beaujolais is one to watch very, very closely! At iDealwine, we value his delicate nectars?–?pure bliss! – and his commitment to championing the terroirs and crus of Beaujolais.
This winemaker is driven by his love of the land and does what he can to look after it, which includes holding organic certificates. After having spent years selling wines from the region, Grégoire Hoppenot wished to go back to basics and create his own wines and to oversee every step of their production in 2018. He set his sights on Fleurie and Morgon, with their fine array of localities stretching across 9.5 ha. His past as a wine merchant means that he has a font of knowledge about the region’s terroirs, varieties and commercial techniques, which enabled him, from his very first vintages, to sell his entire production.
