Viñedo Chadwick

Viñedo Chadwick represents a rare combination between a respected family heritage, an exceptional terroir and the pursuit of total excellence.

This emblematic estate in Puente Alto, pays tribute to Don Alfonso Chadwick Errázuriz, a major figure in Chilean wine and, as it happens, a polo legend. A visionary, he modernised the country's approach to wine-making in the 1930s by founding Chile’s first wine brokerage company. In 1942, he purchased a sprawling estate to the south-east of Santiago, where he built a polo field and the two goalposts remain to this day in the middle of the vineyard as a tribute to him.
After his death in 1993, his son Eduardo Chadwick took the reins, driven by the same ambition to embolden Chilean wines until they take their rightful seat as some of the best in the world. In 1992, he planted 15 hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon on this historic parcel, and launched Viñedo Chadwick as a personal project, almost a manifesto. The estate very quickly attracted attention and in 2004, his second 2000 vintage reached the top of the famous "Berlin Tasting", surpassing premiers crus from Bordeaux and Super Tuscans in blind tastings. Since then, the awards have been rolling in, for example, the 2014 vintage was awarded 100/100 by James Suckling, then by Wine Advocate for the 2021 vintage. The precision of the vinification – which includes meticulous destemming, parcel fermentation, ageing in new French casks and Stockinger barrels – associated with the cool climate and alluvial soil of Puente Alto, masterfully creates these elegant, deep wines that have an unwavering freshness.
Nowadays, the new generation of the Chadwick family is committed to the future of the estate with the same high standards. Viñedo Chadwick is not only a prestigious label, it is a symbol of the revival of Chilean wine, a marriage of memory and modernity.
