Alsace | 1998 vintage
Although the season began with a hot, early summer, excellent for the harvest, this was spoilt by a September interspersed with scorching heat and rain. However, wine-producers managed to produce a nice Reisling and Pinot gris which had just the right amount of acidity. As in 1994, the late harvest grapes developed Botrytis, and the vintage was excellent.
