Aurélien Petit
Working exclusively with winegrowers with whom he develops a close working relationship and who, in many cases, have become his friends, Aurélien vinifies small quantities of grapes from old vines. He takes an admirably minimalist approach in the cellar, opting for indigenous yeasts, fewer inputs, gentle pressing and ageing for six months. His wines present freshness, energy and a pure expression of place and terroir above all else, making Aurélien Petit a French ambassador of wines from Swartland.
Aurélien Petit is a young winemaker who grew up in Nyons, in the South of France, in a family of olive, truffle and wine growers. Having honed his craft all over the world - from Burgundy to Jura, from the Rhone Valley to Argentina, and from Portugal to New Zealand - he has since refined his vision for wine and has found his home in Swartland, South Africa. This region famed for its old vines, schist and granite, and shaped by extreme conditions, perfectly matches his outsider temperament.
