Now owned by an American family, the wines are crafted under the assured direction of Frédéric Barnier, who safeguards the house’s hallmark precision and consistency. These unwavering standards are what sets Maison Jadot apart in Burgundy. With 225 hectares under vine and representation across 130 appellations, not only in the Côte d’Or but also in the Mâconnais and Beaujolais, wine lovers can expect genuine pleasure at every price level, always easily identifiable by the iconic Bacchus head on the label. The estate favours traditional winemaking methods, with slow fermentations and extended ageing. Chemical herbicides are prohibited and yields are strictly limited. Louis Jadot is the second largest estate (in hectares) out of the 80 that produce the Clos de Vougeot. The soil is calcareous with varying degrees of clay and plenty of stones which facilitate drainage in the vineyards. The Clos de Vougeot has a beautiful ruby colour. It has a beautiful intense aroma made up of concentrated fragrances of red fruits, coffee and liquorice. This rich and fleshy wine has pronounced tannins and a long-lasting taste in the mouth.
