Information
Based in Beaune, it combines historic stature with remarkable vitality, continuing to attract leading figures of the wine world to shape and interpret its many terroirs. Now owned by an American family, the wines are crafted under the assured direction of Frédéric Barnier, who safeguards the house’s hallmark precision and consistency. These unwavering standards are what sets Maison Jadot apart in Burgundy. With 225 hectares under vine and representation across 130 appellations, not only in the Côte d’Or but also in the Mâconnais and Beaujolais, wine lovers can expect genuine pleasure at every price level, always easily identifiable by the iconic Bacchus head on the label. The estate favours traditional winemaking methods, with slow fermentations and extended ageing. Chemical herbicides are prohibited and yields are strictly limited. A house where scale never eclipses identity, and tradition continues to shape every bottle.
Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru is a white wine produced on the separated plot of the town of Puligny-Montrachet. The origin of the name goes back to the Middle Ages when the Lord of Puligny handed down this plot to his eldest son, the" Chevalier", or “Knight”. The vineyard, which is just over seven hectares, is located above Mount Rachet on a sloping and very limestone soil which is subject to erosion. The wines are very fine and perfectly balanced. Slightly lighter than the Montrachet, they are more mineral. Richer and bolder than the Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet, the Chevalier-Montrachet is more popular than its counterparts.
