Information
Based in Beaune, it combines historic stature with remarkable vitality, continuing to attract leading figures of the wine world to shape and interpret its many terroirs. Now owned by an American family, the wines are crafted under the assured direction of Frédéric Barnier, who safeguards the house’s hallmark precision and consistency. These unwavering standards are what sets Maison Jadot apart in Burgundy. With 225 hectares under vine and representation across 130 appellations, not only in the Côte d’Or but also in the Mâconnais and Beaujolais, wine lovers can expect genuine pleasure at every price level, always easily identifiable by the iconic Bacchus head on the label. The estate favours traditional winemaking methods, with slow fermentations and extended ageing. Chemical herbicides are prohibited and yields are strictly limited. A house where scale never eclipses identity, and tradition continues to shape every bottle.
To the north of Beaune, the Epenots vineyard extends across 25 hectares of 30-year-old vines. The plot is harvested by hand, the grapes are destemmed, macerated in open wood or stainless steel vats, regularly punched down, then vinified for 18 months in barrels (35% new wood). The result is a charming wine with the gentle aromas of ripe, red fruits and a delicate oakiness that blends with floral notes. Balanced and mature with superb tannins, this is an unmissable wine. To be aged for at least ten years so that its best can be revealed. Serve it with baked salmon or roast chicken.
