Santenay Vieilles Vignes Les Champs Claude Marc Colin & Fils 2013

Of the many Colins in Burgundy, Domaine Marc Colin is perhaps the most famous. This Saint-Aubin estate asserted its reputation thanks to its high-flying whites. The winery has an impressive collection of terroirs in Chassagne, Puligny and several works of the mythical Montrachet. It is now his children, Caroline and Damien, who are at the head of the estate but they remain loyal to the property's identity. The quest for precision and accuracy is impressive, whether in the vineyard, during vinification or in the élevage. The red wines are also of a very high quality. A location which is not-to-be-missed in the Côte de Beaune.

Raised for 15 months in oak barrels and 100% destemmed, this Santenay has astonishing substance and intensity. It will gain in refinement with two to five years' cellaring. An excellent wine which demonstrates the domaine's skills in red wine production.
