Based in Beaune, it combines historic stature with remarkable vitality, continuing to attract leading figures of the wine world to shape and interpret its many terroirs. Now owned by an American family, the wines are crafted under the assured direction of Frédéric Barnier, who safeguards the house’s hallmark precision and consistency. These unwavering standards are what sets Maison Jadot apart in Burgundy. With 225 hectares under vine and representation across 130 appellations, not only in the Côte d’Or but also in the Mâconnais and Beaujolais, wine lovers can expect genuine pleasure at every price level, always easily identifiable by the iconic Bacchus head on the label. The estate favours traditional winemaking methods, with slow fermentations and extended ageing. Chemical herbicides are prohibited and yields are strictly limited. This Meursault comes from 50-year-old vines grown in meagre soil, fully exposed to the east. To make it, the maison harvested by hand before carrying out gentle pressing, fermentation in barrels (2/3 new wood) and an élevage on lees for 15 months in oak. Unsurprisingly, the nose of this wine is marked by notes of white flowers and brioche as well as a roundness that is lifted by a pleasant acidity. Some pairings to consider are dishes with creamy sauces and cheeses such as Chaource or Brillat-Savarin.
