Information
In 1958, Alain Voge joined his father working the small family farm and decided abandon polyculture and devote the entire land to the growing of vines. He starting the wine in bottles from the estate and put northern Rhône appellation of Cornas - which had long been in the shadows - on the map. Cornas owes much to this winemaker who has contributed greatly to shining a light on this appellation.
Today, the family has vines in several appellations: Cornas (6.5 ha), Saint-Péray (4ha), Saint-Joseph and Côtes-du-Rhône (red). 13 hectares are tended to using organic and biodynamic principals (certified since 2013).
The property was associated with Albéric Mazoyer, the former technical directer of Chapoutier, from 2004 to 2018, and with Lionel Fraisse from 2018, who stepped in particularly after the sad passing of Alain Voge in 2020. Lilian Bérillon works in the vineyards, helping the estate with its massale selections.
The Syrahs are world renowned, as are the superb white wines and sparkling wines from Saint-Péray. The concentrated and lively wines wines can be savoured both in their youth and after ageing. A stand-out producer from the region.
From certified organic and biodynamic agriculture, this Cornas is the fruity of meticulous work carried out as much in the vineyard as in the cellar. For this domain, “to drink is to see a landscape free of artifice and altering filters”. Thus, when tasted, what is revealed is the depth of the terroir from which this dense wine originates. A pleasant freshness confers an exquisitely refined character that makes this wine a superb accompaniment to gastronomic dishes. You might want to try it alongside a stuffed saddle of hare – this will pair well with the evolving notes of this cellaring wine.
