About the producer

Jean-François Germain forges the long tradition that precedes him with fervour and passion. His father Henri was modest, but he made a name for himself in Meursault thanks to his perseverance and exemplary work. The family owns 8 hectares of vines, making the wines especially coveted. It is recommended to leave them to age for some years due to their style. Produced in the pure tradition of the region, these wines can be somewhat austere in their youth, but they open up after a few years, revealing all the secretes of the Côtes de Beaune's finest Chardonnay.

About the wine

The name ‘Poruzots’ originates from the word ‘Porroux’ which means ‘stony place’ in the local patois. It refers to the chalky terroir that confers a particular minerality and tautness to this premier cru. Jean-François Germain vinifies his Meursault cuvées with real pizazz. A pro when it comes to low-intervention, he adds no commercial yeast to his wine, uses very few new casks, and doesn’t stir (a rarity in the region!). This wine has a pale, yellow colour in the glass that takes on a golden hue as the cuvée evolves. Lively, chiselled and stripped down, this cuvée has a nose that intrigues. On the palate, it has citrus and perfectly integrated bitter notes. This fine wine will become yet more defined as it ages, and you can count on around ten years in terms of ageing.
