Information
Domaine Georges Noëllat was founded by Georges Noëllat, nephew of Charles Noëllat,?–?whose vines contributed to shape the estates of Jean-Jacques Confuron, Hudelot-Noëllat and Leroy,?–?and great-grandfather of the current owner, Maxime Cheurlin. Maxime Cheurlin took over the estate in 2010 after studying at the wine school in Beaune. He has devoted himself wholeheartedly to the estate, significantly raising the quality of its wines, notably through a much more precise and judicious approach to ageing. The estate has an exceptional vineyard portfolio, with Premiers Crus and Grands Crus in Vosne-Romanée, Échezeaux and Nuits-Saint-Georges, as well as several parcels of centenarian vines. The vines are tended entirely by hand, without the use of chemical treatments, while in the winery the wines are vinified using native yeasts. The estate’s wines are true gems.
This Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Boudots from Georges Noëllat comes from a chalk soil rich with a mosaic of rock, marl, sand, red limestone, and large pebbles. The Pinot noir used to make it was planted between 1976 and 1993. This producer has always been dedicated to treating his vineyard with the utmost care. Hence, all the work is carried out by hand and all chemical products are banned. The grapes are vinified using wild yeasts. In the glass, this wine reveals the character of its appellation through an intense colour and a complex, ripe bouquet of red and black fruit, gentle spice, pepper, prune, and earth. Its palate needs a few years to fully soften and reveal its beautiful, tannic structure. We recommend opening this wine at least half an hour before serving it with characterful dishes.
