Information
This one is a rarity! The Pinot Noir used to make this Clos de Vougeot cuvée enjoyed an oceanic climate and thrived in soils of chalk and marl.
Since it comes from a cru that dates back the the 12th century, producing this mythical wine involves following a strict set of criteria. Made to be aged for around twenty years, this is a wine that delights us in many ways. Its deep, ruby hue announces a greatly complex aromatic bouquet. We get notes of red and black fruit (raspberry, cherry, blackcurrant), flowers (rose, violet), and traces of its masterful maturation; this means there are notes of gentle spices, coffee, and tobacco in the mix. In time, this bouquet will develop touches of liquorice and musk. In the same vein, this cuvée has a characterful palate. Structured by firm tannins, it will pair well with hearty dishes like game in sauce, blue cheese, or mushrooms.
