About the producer
Created in 1927, Islay Mist is a blended whisky fiercely proud of its roots. It all began when the Laird of Islay, Hugh Morrison, began preparing his son’s 21st birthday. Keen to impress his guests, he asked Ian Hunter, the then director of Laphroaig, to select a cask of his best whisky. Hunter was worried Laphroaig would be too powerful and peaty for the southern guests and decided to use his contacts to buy a few casks of Glenlivet and a Lowland grain whisky in order to concoct a new recipe. And so Islay Mist was born. The blend was such a hit that Hunter decided to release an official bottling.
