Information
About the producer

Founded in 1792, the Buffalo Trace Distillery is located in Frankfort, in the state of Kentucky. Owned by the Sazerac group, it has been known under several names including George T. Stagg and Old Fire Copper (OFC), and is thought to be the oldest distillery in operation in the United States. It produces an eponymous brand of bourbon, Buffalo Trace Kentucky Straight Bourbon, as well as numerous other brands including William Larue Weller, Thomas H. Handy, Georges T. Stagg and the famous Pappy Van Winkle.

About the wine

Weller Antique 107 is a wheated bourbon, which means its second grain is wheat rather than the more common rye. 107 refers to the proof, the equivalent of 53.5% ABV. Weller Antique 107 was originally a 7 year old but this specification was later abandoned. The brand was initially produced at the Stitzel-Weller distillery, which was sold by Julian Van Winkle II in 1972. It became part of Distillers Company Limited in 1984, who significantly increased its production capacities, before closing it in 1992 to focus on the newly renovated Bernheim distillery. At the end of the century, DCL—which later became United Distillers and then Diageo—sold Stitzel-Weller’’s stock and the brand to the Sazerac group, which continues to produce it at the Buffalo Trace distillery today.
