Information
Frédéric Magnien represents the 5th generation of wine growers of his family. He created his trading house in 1995 and is also in charge of the family domaine (Michel Magnien). He carefully selects his wine growers and the plots that interest him; he manages the harvest personally with his team. He is best known for his red wines but for several years he has also produced white. His wines are characterised by their concentration and their solid character.
Home to the oldest vines in the commune, planted in 1881, Charmes-Chambertin is renowned internationally for its outstanding Grands Crus. The Les Mazoyères climat, which translates as ‘little houses’, offers the vines a rich, complex soil, which gives the wines a robust, full-bodied character. The estate applies organic and biodynamic farming methods to each plot of Pinot Noir, convinced of the benefits of such practices for the soil, the vines and the wine. In the winery, the fruit is vinified following traditional methods with minimum intervention.
The intense garnet-red colour is complemented by a singular bouquet of red and black fruit harmoniously combined with hints of spice and liquorice. The generous and fragrant palate reveals a beautiful tannic frame culminating in a long and concentrated finish. This cuvée offers excellent ageing potential.
