Information
Frédéric Magnien represents the 5th generation of wine growers of his family. He created his trading house in 1995 and is also in charge of the family domaine (Michel Magnien). He carefully selects his wine growers and the plots that interest him; he manages the harvest personally with his team. He is best known for his red wines but for several years he has also produced white. His wines are characterised by their concentration and their solid character.
Situated at the top of the hillside, the appellation includes 11 distinct localities, each with its own personality. The Pinot Noir vines, planted on deep soils consisting of marl, red silt and gravel, benefit from organic viticulture methods. All chemical fertilisers and weedkillers are prohibited to favour a gentler, more environmentally friendly approach. The hand-picked grapes are carefully sorted and transported to the winery to undergo traditional, low-intervention vinification.
The ruby-red colour reveals a rich aromatic bouquet releasing aromas of prune and undergrowth combined with subtle animal notes and a hint of spice. On the palate, beautiful freshness emerges, complemented by intense floral and cherry flavours culminating in a concentrated, persistent finish. This cuvée offers several beautiful years of ageing potential.
