Information
Château Grand Village is nestled in the heart of the Bordeaux winegrowing landscape, in Mouillac, alongside some of the region’s finest appellations. Sylvie and Jacques Guinaudeau took over the domain in 1979 and cultivate the 15 hectares of vines on clay-limestone soils with great passion. Helped by their son Baptiste and his wife Julie, they apply sustainable farming practices in the vineyards. Aware of today’s environmental challenges and with a view to protecting biodiversity, they cultivate each parcel with unique care, according to their needs, to allow each parcel to express its personality. Unsurprisingly, in the winery, vinification involves very little intervention, and sulphur is added in minute quantities to allow the fruit to fully express all its aromas naturally. It is in this privileged and authentic context that the domain produces exceptional vintages, reflecting a unique terroir sublimated by meticulous traditional expertise.
While 90% of the estate is planted with red grapes, there are also a few parcels of Sauvignon Blanc. The vines climb up a fairly complex and exceptionally well-drained terroir, consisting of a mixture of gravel, clay and sand. The estate is committed to environmentally friendly viticulture in each parcel, to allow the terroir to express its full personality through each vine. The grapes are hand-picked and carefully sorted before undergoing traditional vinification. The wine is fermented and matured exclusively in new casks before being bottled.
The slightly golden colour reveals a delicate bouquet releasing aromas of apricot and peach, combined with indulgent notes of almond paste. On the palate, flavours of lemon and floral hints combine beautifully with a generous texture with leads to a pure, flavoursome and authentic finish.
