Information
Domaine de Bellène, named after the Gaulish sun god Belenos, was founded by Nicolas Potel during the fine 2005 vintage. This cuvée is a Vosne-Romanée from the Les Suchots Premier Cru made using Pinot Noir grapes grown with care, according to organic principles (certified since 2011), including the use of workhorses. In the cellar, the pursuit of producing an authentic wine with a strong identity that accurately represents its terroir, is paramount. Thus the vinification process involves minimal intervention and fermentation is triggered by indigenous yeasts in oak barrels, followed by ageing for one year in the same barrels - 50% new wood - as well as a measured addition of sulphur in homoeopathic doses.
Made for several years of cellaring (up to 15 years for the best vintages), this wine presents an intense and deep ruby-red colour from which emanate notes of red and black fruits, leather, humus and gentle spices, accompanied by a velvety texture.
