Information
Vosne-Romanée, Echezeaux, Gevrey-Chambertin…Domaine Jean-Pierre Guyon has 8.5 hectares of vines spanning some of Burgundy's finest terroirs. The domain was created in the pre-war period by jean-Pierre and Michel Guyon's grandfather in the purest regional tradition. The two brothers took up the domain in the 1990s and they now know every one of its vines. Growing organically for a long time, the domain is currently transitioning to biodynamics (2020). Vinifications take place with whole harvests of Pinot Noir, whatever the vintage or the cuvée, giving the wine remarkable style and precision. Sulphur is added with great precaution. Don't miss out on the chance to taste one of the domain's red cuvées if you're looking for finesse. For the whites, this domain works with both Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc, producing sharp and lively wines that are a real treat to taste!
The estate strives to transcribe the life of the fruit harvested, as if it were a biography, through each of its cuvées. The Pinot Noir grapes delicately reflect the vagaries of the climate, the structure of the soil and the viticulture and vinification methods used. The estate produces its cuvées from whole bunches of grapes, using as little intervention as possible and without adding sulphur. Fermentations are spontaneous, triggered by native yeasts, with regular pumping over to oxygenate the wine. After several months’ ageing in 228-litre casks, the wine is lightly filtered and bottled following the moon’s cycle.
The elegant cherry-red colour reveals an intense bouquet releasing complex notes of morello cherry and nutmeg beautifully combined with aromas of leather and truffle. The supple and ample palate reveals round tannins leading to a deliciously flavoursome and persistent finish.
