Information
Domaine de Michèle and Patrice Rion extend over 6 hectares in Nuits-Saint-Georges and Chambolle-Musigny. The domaine is not certified but applies the precepts of organic farming (ploughing with a pickaxe, organic products). The wines are stored from 15 to 18 months in barrels (50% new for premier and grand crus). They reflect well their terroir and are clear, precise, complex and fruity. On the palate, the wines are silky and harmonious, with round tannins.
The small village of Chambolle-Musigny shelters an invaluable terroir where Pinot Noir vines benefit from an ideal east-facing exposure. The shallow, predominantly limestone soils are full of cracks, allowing the vines to spread their roots deep down to draw in all the nutrients they require to thrive. The vines, on average 35 years old, are entirely harvested by hand at peak ripeness. The grapes are meticulously sorted and ferment in open stainless steel vats for 3 weeks. The wine then undergoes an ageing process in oak casks, with 50% new wood, for 18 months before bottling.
The wine displays a deep colour with bright reflections. The intense and expressive bouquet is characterised by aromas of small red fruit, redcurrant, combining with notes of white pepper and an incredible freshness. On the palate, the clean attack leads to a dense substance complemented by a mineral frame culminating in an exceptionally long finish.
