Information
At the head of this family-run estate is Pierre Gros, representing the seventh generation. He crafts this Chambolle-Musigny using Pinot Noir grapes. This noble variety was encouraged to draw the necessary nutrients for its development from pebbly soils. Harvested by hand, the grapes are destemmed when they arrive in the cellar. The must undergoes pumping over and punching down to extract the tannins and flavours. Ageing is carried out in new barrels for six months initially, followed by a further year in used barrels.
Made for cellaring for up to ten years, the wine has an intense ruby-red colour from which escapes a rich and complex bouquet, though it does have a delicate side. We get hints of red and black fruits as well as floral notes and precious wood. The tannins are fine and velvety and its finesse reigns supreme.
