Information
At the head of this family-run estate is Pierre Gros, representing the seventh generation. He crafts this Morey-Saint-Denis from vines in the “En La Rue de Vergy” ‘climat’. The Pinot Noir grapes draw the necessary nutrients for their development from soils composed of Comblanchien limestone rich in clay (30 to 35 cm) and pebbles. Harvested by hand, the grapes are destemmed when they arrive in the cellar. The must undergoes pumping over and punching down to extract the tannins and flavours. Ageing is carried out in new barrels for six months initially, followed by another year in used barrels.
Made for cellaring for up to 15 or so years, the wine has an intense colour from which escapes a rich and complex bouquet. We get hints of red and black fruits as well as notes of eau-de-vie and flowers. Structured by wonderful tannins, it deserves to be paired with dishes of a hearty texture.
