Information
The Bret Brothers domain was founded in 2001 by brothers Jean-Philippe and Jean-Guillaume Bret. They are also the brothers behind the Domaine de la Soufrandière. Their objective has been clear from the beginning: to create specially selected high quality wines under strict and precise specifications. The Bret brothers buy unharvested grapes and then vinify them themselves. Some of their cuvées have organic certification.
Bret Brothers, one of the leading names in the Mâconnais, produces great terroir-driven wines. This Pouilly-Fuissé is crafted from 50-year-old Chardonnay grapes grown on a 25-acre parcel in the locality known as ‘Les Crays’. The vines are planted on a sloping limestone hillside, with an ideal southern exposure. Cultivated following biodynamic principles, the grapes undergo a meticulous vinification process involving rigorous sorting and whole bunch pressing. Ageing for almost a year in 228-litre Burgundy casks delivers all the complexity we love about this wine. In the glass, the yellow tint and pale green hues reveal delicate white floral notes and citrus aromas. The ageing process produces a full-bodied texture and a long persistence of delicate woody notes.
