Information
Located on clay-limestone and marl soils, this grand cru benefits from a south-eastern exposure that promotes the growth of Pinot Noir grapes. The history of Clos de Vougeot dates back to the 12th century, when it was founded by the monks of the Cistercian Abbey of Cîteaux. Today, it stands as a symbol of exceptional winemaking tradition. After being carefully hand-harvested, the Pinot Noir grapes are meticulously destemmed before fermenting in wooden vats. The wine is then aged for 12 to 18 months in oak barrels, allowing for the integration of subtle wood aromas while preserving the fruit’s aromatic purity.
This wine displays a rich ruby-red colour. The nose is rich and complex, offering aromas of dark cherry, blackcurrant, and spices, with a hint of earthy undertones. On the palate, it is full-bodied and velvety, with well-integrated tannins and refreshing acidity, promising great complexity. The finish is long and elegant, marked by a fine minerality.
