Information
Chassagne-Montrachet is home to the Jean-Noël Gagnard family estate, run by Caroline Lestimé since 1989, producing outstanding wines such as this Chassagne-Montrachet from the Caillerets Premier Cru. Chardonnay, the area’s noble grape variety, thrives in the limestone and marl soils where it draws the nutrients it requires to flourish, encouraged by environmentally friendly cultivation methods that are certified organic and biodynamic. All this in an oceanic climate with a semi-continental influence.
Aged in wood, this wine strikes a remarkable balance of density and purity. Tasting reveals a wine that will cellar for up to ten years, with a yellow colour adorned with a thick disk, heralding a full-bodied palate. Delicate flavours of citrus fruit, white flowers and white fruit emerge on the palate, enlivened by a persistent vertical minerality.
